This year, Insight Pest Solutions once again sponsored a scholarship for students pursuing higher education, with the 2019 edition of the scholarship seeking out students who have successfully overcome obstacles or distractions that could have hindered their academic success.  

Our team received hundreds of submissions, many of them featuring inspiring stories of students conquering impediments to their education and overcoming the things that “bug” them when it comes to learning. After reviewing all of the applications, we finally found a student we felt was most deserving of the scholarship.   

We are delighted to announce the winner of the 2019 Insight Pest Solutions What Bugs You Scholarship: Shea Slovak.

Shea shared a deeply personal story detailing how, despite the obstacles that occurred early in her life, she was able to dedicate herself to her studies and other school activities. Shea’s determination and positive attitude in the face of adversity allowed her to become a three-sport varsity athlete and earn membership in multiple Honors Societies, all while successfully holding two after-school jobs. 

That hard work paid off when Shea enrolled and was accepted at her dream school, Arizona State University. At present, she is a proud Sun Devil and is continuing to excel in her academic life after transitioning to college.    

We applaud Shea’s scholastic and community involvement in response to her adversity, and congratulate her on being named the recipient of the 2019 Insight Pest Solutions Scholarship!
